Introduction

What follows is a brief summary of the main events that are publicly known. All the information provided here is in the Player's Guide, which will be sent to you before the game. Your character sheet will contain your perspective on the main events in much greater detail. Naturally, you may know things that others don't and you may know things that contradict the public record.

The Beginnings

March: A young Dunnish peasant girl by the name of Hescen, who worked as a maid at the Keep, vanishes under something of a cloud.

The Plot Thickens

Mid-year festival: The Mayor appears at the Festival without the Chain of Office. He explains that the Chain was damaged and has been sent to Tharbad for repair.

July 5th: Two villagers, Haldir and Arrand, arrive in town with a tale that accuses Findegil, the Mayor's son, of having made Hescen pregnant and accuses the Mayor of having had her sent away. However, instead she stole the Chain of Office and ran away to the Trollshaws. The Mayor, according to the tale, hired Yasmin to find her and then when that didn't work, hired Forak's Violators to kill Hescen.

July 6th: The Mayor calls a meeting of the Council and tells a slightly different tale, saying that it was true that Hescen was pregnant and had run away to the Trollshaws. He also admitted to sending Yasmin to find her, but maintained that the Chain had been sent to Tharbad for repair. He denied that Findegil was the child's father. He reported that Yasmin had returned, saying she knew where Hescen was, but had demanded more money, so he sent Forak's Violators to find them both. The Council was unconvinced by the story and decided to send two members, Amoriel and Echor, to Tharbad with Coerba the Bargeman to check the Mayor's story about the Chain.

July 15th: Amoriel and Echor return and inform the Council that the Chain had indeed been sent to Tharbad for repair, and it had been sent back on March 18th with Yasmin, who was there on business and was returning to Fennas Drúnin. On hearing this, the Council absolve Ostomir and Findegil of all blame and pronounce Yasmin a thief and presumed murderer (everyone assuming that Hescen was dead). The Council also hire Forak's Violators to seek out Yasmin and bring her and the Chain back to Fennas Drúnin.

Mid-August: Forak's Violators return empty handed, saying that they were expelled from the Trollshaws by King Broggha's men, leading to rumours that Yasmin was in league with the King.

The Present

October 15th: After many months, when the affair had almost been forgotten, Anvelig the Caravan Master arrives in Fennas Drúnin after a regular trip to the Trollshaws. With him is none other than Yasmin. She is handed over to Hallas, Sergeant of the Town Guard, and Ostomir immediately announces a meeting of the Council to try Yasmin for her crimes.

October 16th: It is now the morning of October 16th and the Council is about to meet to decide Yasmin's fate.
